Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I am searching for the parents of Mary Elizabeth Jenkins. She was born 11-16-1876 to J. T. Williams and Peralie Carter in Caldwell County Texas. Mary married Henry Eugene Jenkins and she died in 1918 in Orange county Texas. I cannot locate her parents in the census and have been unable to locate any information on this family. Their names were on her death certificate and it says J. T. was born in Arkansas and Peralie was born in Texas. I appreciate any help you can offer me.

I am looking for information on Salem Williams b. 1815-1819?, parents, siblings, actual birth date, death date, where he may be buried. This is my husband's 3rd great grandfather and we know where he was from 1836-1860 due to census records but we lose track of him after that.

Salem married Sarah Willett b. 1818 daughter of David Willett on 31st of August 1836 in Harrison County, Virginia. But by 1840 they were living in Barbour, Virginia and that is where the children were born.

1. Isaac b. 1838-?
2. Elihu b. 1840-bef 1920 m. 1st Melissa Cottrill; 2nd Lucinda Shamblin
3. Noah b. August 1844-5 May 1922 m. Mary E Hickman
4. Rebecca Olive b. 1844-? m. Jasper N Queen
5. Mary b. 1845-1910 m. Floyd N Greathouse
6. Rachel b. 1852-?
I also think that there was a child named John born in 1841, but not sure. Any help would be much appreciated.

James McHenry Williams,
my great grandfather was born in either TN or VA in December 1827, according to the family Bible. Once he stated his bp was VA and another time he claimed it was TN. In 1849 in Shelby Cty. TN, he married Mary Elizabeth Johnston, daughter of Samuel Johnston of Concordia, Fayette Cty.,TN. The Johnston family was from SC. Williams died in 1871 and his will was filed in Tipton County, TN, and he was burried in Burrough cemetary in Fayette Cty., Tn.
__?__ Refinas McKnight was his surety for his marriage license and later witness to his will.
Who were his ancestors and siblings? Where did he come from when he settled in the corner of the three above named counties? Was he there along time before he married or did he settle there shortly before his marriage? I have not located any clues to help me answer these questions. Please help!

My Williams ancestor is Richard Williams born in Wotten-under-Edge, Gloucestershire and a found of Taunton, Massachusetts. My mother is a Williams and our family has done research on this Williams line, as have many other relatives who I have met for the first time online. We have a Williams tree on www.geni.com and I have a Richard Williams project there as well. Our family has the tradition that Richard Williams was Welsh and I would love to see the DNA project show that indeed, this branch was Welsh. I do have a question. I did the Family Finder Test, not the mTDNA test, because I wanted to know about all sides (and especially about my gg grandfather Frankel on my father's side). I would like to see Williams like me who did the autosomal Family Finder or the other autosomal tests on www.gedmatch.com comparing their results. I would like to know if Roger Williams and Richard Williams were related. I am ALSO a direct descendant of another Williams line -- John Williams (c 1600- 1674) of Haverhill, MA.
