Williams Lineages Underway
This
section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they
are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall
you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either
have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!
And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

My brickwall would be Moriah/Mariah daughter of John Williams and Sarah Cudor. She had six children one of them is my great, great, great grandfather Henry Williams that married Dicie Stidham. I can find Moriaha/Mariah until I believe 1870 but nothing before 1850 she was born in Virgina, when I do find Henry's and his sister Elizabeth that married Henry Craft their father is not listed so that is really what I'm trying to find out is who is the father of Moriah/Mariah's children?
Thanks in advance,
Vickie

JOHN P WILLIAMS, my ancestor, b. apt 1887 CONNECTICUT. Supposedly had several brothers and sisters who were all orphaned about 1900 when their parents were killed. I cannot find anything to substantiate this. His father was JOHN T WILLIAMS B. ABT 1850 IN CONNECTICUT, AND MARY UNKNOWN B. ENGLAND. Does anyone have a similar story with another sibling?

This is an update to my post on 1 Feb 2008. I have seen information from that post being cited on other websites and it is important to update/correct it here. What I post is from my own research. PLEASE ACCEPT OR REJECT IT AS YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
Documentation shows Elisha (1) Williams of Pitt Co NC. Born before 1755. Died after 8 Feb 1790 but before 5 Mar 1800. Married Martha (maiden name likely Wilkinson.) Their sons: John Williams. Born ca 1780; Elisha (2) Williams. Born ca 1789. Benjamin Williams. Died < 7 Nov 1810, a minor.
Elisha (1) Williams is named as a petitioner in the 1787 plea to the General Assembly to move the county line between Pitt and Edgecombe.
Documentation citations: Petition to Annex Part of Pitt Co (NC) to Edgecombe Co (NC) 1787, NC General Assembly Session Records, Nov-Dec 1787, box 3, folder 123, NC Archives Raleigh NC; Pitt Co NC Abstract of Deeds, DBM-239; DBN-283; DBO-424; DBP-141; DBQ-221; DBS-48; Pitt Co NC Census 1800; 1810. Martin Co NC census 1800.
Elisha(2) Williams is accounted for in the 1800 Pitt Co NC census, as one white male age 10-15, living in the HH of his mother Martha, who after the death of Elisha (1) Williams married Caleb Downs. This information correctly locates Elisha (2) in 1800. Of equal importance, it EXCLUDES Elisha Williams (who married Elizabeth Biggs) enumerated in 1800 Martin Co NC census. Again, census data proves, Elisha (2) Williams, born ca 1789, son of Elisha (1) Williams and Martha, lived in the Pitt Co HH of his mother in 1800, and is NOT the Elisha Williams head of household in the 1800 Martin Co NC census NOR one of his sons under age 10 in that same year.
Elisha (2) Williams moved to Stewart Co TN and bought land 11 Nov 1813. Witnessed by his brother John Williams and also by John Stancill formerly of Pitt Co NC. (John Stancill's father Godfrey Stancill was a petitioner on the 1787 document.) Elisha (2) married Mary Reddick before Feb 1815. He is known as Elisha Williams, Sr. in the deeds and documents. Elisha (2) Williams wrote his will 16 March 1845 and died Dec 1846. Will Book 3-32.
Pitt Co NC deeds state John Williams, born ca 1780, lived in Martin Co NC in 1800. He is documented in the 1800 Martin Co NC census (one white male 16-26)with his wife and son, we later know was Barry, (one male < age 10). John Williams is documented in 1810 Pitt Co NC census (one white male 26-44) with his wife and three sons, we later know as Barry, John II, Elisha, all under age 10, the census taken before Barry's 10th birthday. Also a daughter Elizabeth under age 10.
John Williams moved to Stewart Co TN and bought land there 27 Nov 1811 from Prescott Crisp, formerly of Pitt Co NC. He is enumerated in the 1820 Stewart Co TN census (one white male 26-45) with his wife, and sons John II and Elisha accounted for. Son Barry was married by 1820 and is enumerated in the 1820 Stewart Co TN census living in his own HH. (In 1820, John Williams is enumerated near Daniel Buntin petitioner of the 1787 Pitt Co document.) John Williams died January 1854 in Henry Co TN, Will Book H, page 587.
My research is on-going. I hope this new post helps those researching this Williams line. I am curently working on documenting the father of Elisha (1) Williams and will post information when it can be helpful to others.

We have been searching for the father of our Barnabas HOWARD born 1791 in New York. His father's first name is unknown to us. His mother was named Mary-her maiden name is unknown to us. This article submitted by B. HOWARD to the paper in Gore District, Ontario, Canada is the best thing that we have to a clue of an ancestral relationship. Does anyone know anything about the old Mr. Edward WILLIAMS listed below in this old obit from 1824??? Mr. HOWARD was born in Lansingburgh, NY. His sister was married in Canajoharie, NY in 1809. Thanks for any help.
"Longevity"
Died the 2nd inst. in the township of Ancaster, Gore district, Edward WILLIAMS, a native of London aged 99 years 5 months and 24 days, he served his apprenticeship to a gunsmith, then joined himself to the King's armoury, was sent to Scotland, then to Ireland, thereafter to America in time of the French war, suffered much toil and privation in traversing rivers, lakes and forests, from Quebec to Michilimackinac. At the close of this war he settled in New-England and after the revolution emigrated to New -York state, with his family, his wife bore him 15 children, eleven of them , I believe are alive and have large families, he has left many grandchildren, some of whom are nearly forty years old, are settled and have large families. In 1817 Mr. WILLIAMS came to spend his days with some of his children who had emigrated to this province. His senses were perfect until the day of his death, ten days before he died he was repairing a firelock in his little shop and could see to do the finest of work without the aid of spectacles; he died without a struggle. These particulars were communicated to me, last post by Mr. B. HOWARD of Flamboro' West, grand-son of the deceased. M.

My Grandmother is Jo Ann Williams(1930-) with a sister Jean Williams. Their father is Millard Clay Williams(1905-1976) whose parents are Oker Price Williams(1880-1942) and Florence (no maiden name...yet...). I have not been able to confirm other children of Oker.
I have found information I belive correct:
Oker is the son of Nathaniel C Williams(1857-1910) and Julia Smith
Nathaniel is the son of Wiley Price Williams(1832-1899) & Emma Hatcher
Wiley is the son of Thomas W Willams & Sarah Price (1797-1880)
To this point, all of the Williams men are born in Virginia. I would like to go back further and wonder if anyone can help!
Thanks,
Stacey

Brick wall--Williams from Tennessee
GGGreat Grandfather: Robert L. Williams, born in Tennessee in about 1818 (was 32 in October of 1850), was in Sullivan County, Missouri by 1847 and married to Mary Ann (Polly) Morelock. When her father died in the line of duty as the first Sheriff of Sullivan County, he replaced him. Went on to serve in county offices--listed as a farmer in 1850. He dies before 1860--I think in 1858. His wife's obituary indicates they had seven kids--only five are visible in census data:
Martha J (1847-1919) married J.C. Tate
Enoch Baker (1850 - ?) married to "Calafornia" in 1880
James T (1851-1920) married Easter Keltner
George W (1851-1875) dies in Martha's home
Edward Allen (1855-1924) married Emaline Virginia Clem, then Mary Francis Atkins
Only Martha and Edward (my GGGrandfather) seemed to have children. His wife died in 1894 and is said to be buried in a "Williams Cemetery" that we cannot locate--her obituary indicates it is "south of the city" (Milan, Missouri).
I don't even know what part of Tennessee he was from--her family was from Greene County. Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated.
